Bangalore has seen tremendous change over the past two decades, transforming a hitherto small pensioner’s paradise to a bustling metropolis of more than eight million people, and becoming a key part of the growth engine that propelled the post liberalisation Indian economy forward. As the city transformed, the need for multiple authorities to take care of civic and non civic issues became very important and so did the need for people to find easy ways to deal with officialdom.
Living in BengaluruThe Smart Way is a book that aims to make all that easier for denizens. “The book is a dossier of sorts, and provides key information such as the BMTC bus route details, how to register property in the city and the documents needed for the task, helpline numbers for children, women and the elderly, the various citizen initiatives undertaken have been included in the book,” says Subramaniam Vincent, one of the publishers of the book. The book was launched at the Reliance Timeout store in Mantri mall recently.
Vincent says, “This book was born out of a city newspaper we bring out in South Bangalore, Citizen Matters . We hope that the book would help people in the city solve the issues they face easily.”
At the book launch, R.K. Mishra, a member of of ABIDe (Agenda for Bengaluru Infrastructure and Development) Task Force, talked about the multitude of issues that the city faced, as far as infrastructure was concerned. He talked about the importance of such books and said the books would make it easier for citizens to negotiate bureaucratic red tape and sort out any issues they face.
The book has been published by Oorvani media and costs Rs.99
