Amar Kanwar lives and works in New Delhi. His recent solo exhibitions have been at the Art Institute of Chicago, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Fotomuseum Zurich .

Recent group exhibitions have been the Carnegie International, USA, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, South Korea, Tarra Warra Museum of Art, Australia , Guggenheim Museum, New York , Istanbul Biennial , Moscow Biennale, Sharjah Biennale and Kochi Biennale .

Kanwar has also participated in Documenta 11, 12 and 13 in Kassel, Germany. Amar has been the recipient of awards such as the Edvard Munch Award for Contemporary Art, Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from Maine College of Art, Golden Gate Award, San Francisco International Film Festival and the Golden Conch, Mumbai International Film Festival.

He has also had retrospectives at film festivals including the 5th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala, India (2012) and the 9th International Short Film Festival, Bangladesh (2005).

The Hindu Lit for 2014 will take place at the Siri Fort Auditorium 2 in Delhi on February 8, 2014.
