This monograph brings out the amazingly facets of Malampalli Somasekhara Sarma (1891-1963), a linguist, historian, epigraphist, numismatist, and writer.

Among Sarma's historical works, A forgotten chapter of Andhra History that dealt with the rise and fall of Warangal and History of Reddi Kingdoms of Kondaveedu and Rajamahendravaram are landmarks. The Reddi rulers were patrons of culture and traditional arts, and Saivism flourished in their reign with Srisailam, Tirupurantakam and Daksharamam as its nerve centres.

Sarma's literary output covers a range of genres like poetry, drama, and novel, and over 100 of his talks and plays were broadcast by All India Radio. Above all, Sarma has compiled an encyclopaedia on Telugu culture.

The book, which has 13 chapters and five useful annexures (providing details of Sarma's books, essays, etc.), is a valuable addition to the biographical corpus.
