Director Steven Spielberg has decided to step out from the remake of classic movie ‘Harvey’ after failing to find a Hollywood A-lister to play the lead role.

Late actor James Stewart had made the character of Elwood P. Dowd famous in the 1950 film.

But, in the current project, top actors including Tom Hanks and Robert Downey’ Jr have refused to sing up, reports the Variety.

Also problems with the script were reported.

Spielberg’s spokesperson confirmed he has quit the project.

The rep refused to reveal the reasons for the decision, reports the Daily Express.

However, Fox 2000 studio bosses plan to continue to make the film.
