Sahara TV has made yet another addition to its perpetual list of women-centric telly soaps.Based on the hardships of seven-year-old separated from her mother, the serial has a kid as its protagonist. Ek Chutki Aasman concentrates on the real life struggles faced by the women folk even 60 years after independence.

“Khate hain jo kheer, banjaate hain veer,” Chutki, played by Roshni Parekh, a chirpy seven-year-old from Borivalli, Mumbai, effortlessly narrates a dialogue from the serial. The character of her mother Himangi is played by Delhi-based Chhavi Mittal, who after her husband's death is forced to leave Chutki at her brother's house and look for livelihood in Mumbai. The story is carried forward by Chutki's journey to unite her with her mother.

A Lady Shri Ram college graduate, Chhavi, is also a trained classical singer and was last seen in Bandini and the reality show Saas Vs Bahu . “The highlight of the show is that it is a mother's story. Considering marriage and motherhood are important phases of a woman's life, unlike other serials, we have skipped the first landmark and focussed on motherhood, which upholds the freshness of the storyline” says Sheetal Ladha, programming head, SaharaOne Television, who is also the story writer of the show.
