How it happened

I am a gold medallist from the Anna University and later did my masters in computer science in the U.S. I used to do variety programmes in college and on one such occasion, Danny, programme in-charge of Nila TV, asked me to anchor some of his programmes which I did. But I was more interested in composing music. So director Vasanth asked me to do the score for a song in his film Aye Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke. He also offered me a role in the same film. I did both and everybody appreciated my work.

How it felt

I am a big critic of myself. I watched the film in a preview theatre. I know my strengths and weaknesses — I felt I should have done it better. I used to store all my TV programmes in a CD and watch them to find out where I had gone wrong and correct my mistakes.

How life changed

It has not changed overnight after my first film. It was “Alaigal” (a serial) and “Jodi Number 1” (a dance reality show), which made me a household name. I have also acted in Jerry, Vattaram, Satham Podathe, Silambattam and Chakravyugam. I'm now acting in Enthiran and Nane Ennul Illai, and play the hero in Nanjupuram. I'm happy things are progressing in the right direction.
