TVH Bhakti Sangeet Utsav will be held at the Narada Gana Sabha from July 2 to July 7. Organised by Chennai-based music portal Carnatica and Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, the festival will feature a galaxy of artists.

“This festival will help in showcasing over 2000 years of bhakti tradition. We have selected a variety of artistes with diverse themes to give ideal spiritual and devotional experience,” K.N. Shashikiran, vocalist and co-founder of Carnatica says.

The Utsav begins with an ‘Anugraha Bhashanam’ by Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, head of the Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Mylapore. A spiritual discourse by Suki Sivam will follow a devotional recital Chinmaya Sisters. Other performances on the opening day are by Anooradha Sriram, Sriram Parasuram and Sikkil Gurucharan.

S. Sowmya, vocalist and co-founder of Carnatica says, “I am happy to be part of this festival as a performer too and shall be presenting Tyagaraja’s Utsava Samprdaya and Divyanama kritis. In addition to this we are preparing multimedia presentations and handouts to highlight the various themes and help the public imbibe the bhakti spirit better.”

Raghavendra, Sriranjani Santhanagopalan and Vidya Kalyanaraman will collaborate with veteran Nagai Mukundan to present a thematic recital. Udayalur Kalyanaraman will present a Namasankeerthanam and B. Suchitra and S. Saindhavi will present Kathakalakshepam.

Popular villupattu exponent Kavingnar Subbu Arumugam, Vidya Bhushana, Avadoot Gandhi, Basaveshvara Bhajan Mandali and G.K. Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya too will perform. The festival is open to all music lovers.
