The solitary occupation of creating art will undergo a transformation when a number of the country’s greatest artists descend on Chennai to pay tribute to the celebrated painter, KCS Paniker, on the occasion of his birth centenary. They will not only create art in public view at the Vivanta by Fisherman’s Cove resort, they will also interact with the public. What better opportunity to inquire into the inner workings of some of India’s most renowned creative minds, including Abir Karmakar, Achutan Kudallur, Aditya Basak, Chandra Bhattacharya, C Douglas, Manish Pushkale, RM Palaniappana, Shipra Bhattacharya, Shuvaprasanna, SG Vasudev and Yusuf Arakkal?

Their works of publicly created art will be created from January 18 onwards, and will be auctioned off on January 20 to raise funds in aid of Rotary Community Services Projects. The auction will feature, along with art created at Vivanta by Fisherman’s Cove, pieces by such celebrated painters as Abanindranath Tagore, Ganesh Pyne, Anjolie Ela Menon, MF Husain, FN Souza and T Vaikuntam. In other words, from the easel to the gavel, you will see it all.
