Jimmy Shergill on essaying the role of a cop yet again

Jimmy Shergill won accolades for his role of a cop in A Wednesday. Now we will see him once again as a cop in his forthcoming movie Rajdhani Express: Point Blank Justice.

Ask him whether the role of a cop is his lucky charm, he instantly answers, “I have no idea about the luck quotient. But after A Wednesday, Ihave been getting many such roles. When Ashok approached me for the role of a cop  once again, I found the script different from the one I did in A Wednesday. While this movie has a lot of dialogues, A Wednesday had more body language.”

The actor plays Deputy Commissioner Yadav, Anti Terrorist Squad in the movie. The plot revolves around a situation that goes out of control on the Rajdhani Express.

Yadav, a shrewd officer, is disliked by his superiors for his style of working. When asked about playing a negative character, Jimmy who is currently shooting in Chambal for Bullet Raja retorts, “I don’t know why this character is termed as a negative one. Yadav does bend rules, but that is only to control the situation and ensure the safety of the public. After all, every human has shades of grey.”

Jimmy was full of praise for director Ashok Kohli in cooperating with the shooting schedule.

“I have known Ashok for a few years now and he was very certain that I should play this role. He finished the shooting within 15 days and the whole crew was very quick with their work. However this was the only movie where I could not see it after the dubbing because of the tight schedule. Ashok told me that we will watch the movie together when it releases,” says Jimmy.

How was it working with his co-actor, ace Tennis player Leander Paes? Jimmy recalls, “I did not shoot with him but I did meet him a couple of times. He is a great person and has played his character to the tee.”

Jimmy has carved a name in the Punjabi film industry as an actor and producer over the last few years. “I do one Punjabi film every year. I have a good team of directors and writers. With their support I manage to balance both Bollywood and Punjabi movies. My upcoming Punjabi film is Rangeelay with Neha Dhupia,” says the actor whose forthcoming Hindi movies are Special Chabbis where he plays a cop once again, Saheb Biwi aur Gangster  Returns and Bullet Raja.
