Saying it with music

It is no secret that actor-turned-director Raghava Lawrence is a big fan of Rajinikanth. Lawrence, who is known to take an active interest in philanthropic activities, is now busy working on a gift that he intends to present to the superstar on his birthday, which is hardly a fortnight away. The actor is coming up with an album, which he intends to release on 12/12/2012. Music for the album is being scored by Vijay Antony, who apart from music projects, is also busy gearing up for his next film as a hero.

Says Lawrence, “Every year, we wish the superstar on his birthday. But then, this year we wanted to wish him in a different manner. The day itself is special this year.”

Raghava, who will begin shooting for Muni 3 from December, believes that the album will not only be a gift for Rajinikanth but also to his fans!

On a new track

Actor Vijay seems to have taken a liking to singing. He is all set to croon a song in his next film that is being directed by A. L. Vijay. The actor, whose latest release Thuppakki is faring well at the box office, will record the song next week at a studio in Mumbai, where he is shooting at present. G. V. Prakash, who is the music director for the film, says, “I have always been a fan of Vijay’s singing and requested him to sing a solo, peppy number. We plan to have five songs in the film. However, we may include one more at a later stage.”

Director Karu Pazhaniappan, whose films Parthiban Kanavu , Pirivom Santhippom and Sivapathigaram were well-appreciated, has begun work on his next.

Titled Jannal Oram , the film will feature actor Vimal in the lead apart from Parthiban and Vidharth. Manisha and Poorna are the heroines. The film will be shot at several places including Kamban and Kumizhi. Jannal Oram is a remake of the popular Malayalam hit Ordinary , which featured Kunchacko Boban in the lead and was directed by Sugeeth.

Win with wit

Director Bala is known for his sharp and candid replies, which have earned him several admirers. During a recent press conference for his next film Paradesi, when mediapersons asked him who he thought was the best among all the actors he has worked with, the director replied with a smile, “I think I am the best actor for I am acting in front of you even now.”
