Reality check

Suraj Venjaramoodu is in total control of his reel life. “Things haven’t been better really,” he says, with two plum projects on the anvil—Siddique-Mohanlal combo Ladies and Gentlemen and Benny P. Nayarambalam-Dileep project Sound Thoma. Offers have been flowing in from Tamil, too. But it is debutant Subil Surendran’s Ente Sathyanweshana Pareekshakal that he is looking forward to . Touted to be a milestone in Suraj’s career, the film has him in the lead. “It is a serious role that maps the mindscape of a comedian, the complexities and hardships he faces,” he says. Scripted by Shankar Ramakrishnan, the film is a dedication to one of Malayalam cinema’s most talented actors, Adoor Bhasi, Suraj says.

In action

Villain-turned comedian Baburaj is not done with humour yet. Playing Gopi, driver of the Kamath brothers (Mammootty and Dileep) in Kamath and Kamath , he is enjoying his new screen avatar. “I am really cool with humour roles now,” he says. But does he miss action? “A little bit, yes. But the character I play in Kamath and Kamath has both action and comedy. The Kamath brothers are vegetarians, but they ensure I get to eat yum non-vegetarian biryani in order to feed my fighting instincts,” he says. However, a bit of real action is in store for him in Rajesh Amanakara’s Entry , in which he plays the lead as a cop. DYSP Sankunni Uncle will also see him play a cop.
