Just one movie can make all the difference to an actor’s career. Posani Krishnamurali is the latest actor to enjoy such success with the Sankranthi release, Nayak directed by V.V. Vinayak. “I have been around for 25 years in the industry, but Nayak changed the course of my life,” said an excited Krishnamurali. After playing rowdy Suklabhai, the delightful villain in the movie, Murali’s career graph zoomed like never before with big banners vying to sign him for their upcoming movies.
“I have signed 12 films in just two days after the release of Nayak . A Pawan Kalyan-Harish Shankar movie, Krish-Mahesh Babu starrer, K. Raghavendra Rao’s Intinta Annamayya , a film with Allu Arjun and a D. Ramanaidu production are among them. Writer Sathyanand’s prophecy came true. After watching Nayak he said that I will have to close my pen as henceforth I will get more acting offers than writing for films,” he guffaws.
Posani’s recent portrayals as a taxi driver in Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum , and in that spoof comedy Sudigaadu and R. Narayana Murthy’s People’s War won him all round applause. But in Nayak Vinayak presented him from a new angle where his villainy turned out to be delightful during the pre-climax scenes.
It is not easy to impress the audience when you have a mass hero like Ramcharan in a dual appearance, two glamourous heroines, six top villains and eight comedians. Yet Murali came up trumps. “Initially, I was asked to give 3 days call sheet. But as the movie progressed, the director extended it to a 12 day work,” says Krishnamurali.
The man who is known for taking satirical digs at society and politics through his portrayals discovered this comic tinge in him while he was studying in school. As a Std. VII student in Guntur, he won the best comedian award for a play, ‘Ananthasayanam’ at the inter-school competitions. He won the best actor award for a 40 minute mono acting - ‘Koti Vidyallo cherani kooti vidya’ while he was studying at the Nagarjuna University.
“Acting was not at the back of my mind when I entered the film industry. All I wanted to become is a writer. Things just happened and for the first time in my long career I have received messages and phone calls from stalwarts in the industry for my acting! Ramcharan was one of the first to appreciate my performance and said that his dad, Chiranjeevi garu especially enjoyed the scenes in which I appeared and watched them again. Dasari Narayana Rao garu spoke to me for five minutes lauding my work in the movie and K. Raghavendra Rao garu after watching Nayak not only cast me as a villain in his Initinta Annamayya’ but gave an SMS saying “You are the best.” I am blessed,” signs off Posani Krishnamurali.
