From the angry young man to a lover boy, Gopichand seem to be trying for an image makeover in Wanted , produced by Venegalla Anand Prasad. A few days ago, writer-turned-director B.V.S. Ravi was filming a scene on the hero and Prakash Raj and other key players for the action-based love story at an old school near Charminar. Ace cinematographer Rasool Ellore captured the emotion-ridden war of words between the protagonist and the antagonist in what the debut director termed as ‘human drama' that ultimately leads to intriguing situations.
Ravi says that he shot the film mostly in virgin locations in and around Hyderabad. It also had its shooting spell at what is now known as ‘Maryada Ramanna' set in a sprawling private land on the outskirts of Hyderabad near Kothapeta. At the lavishly done up house set, a crucial scene in which veteran actors Ravi Kondala Rao and Radhakumari playing grand parents to the heroine Deeksha Seth, Nasser and Prakash Raj participated.
“Deeksha Seth till now has acted only in second heroine roles in Telugu films. In a way she is making her debut as a full fledged heroine. She is a quick learner and has a meaty role to perform,” said the director who shot into fame as a writer with Sathyam .
He heaped lavish praises on his hero. “Gopichand is not only a good actor but a good human. It is very comfortable to work with him. The credit for the hassle free shooting spell should go to him.”
Film scribe turned executive producer Anne Ravi and the unit planned to shoot three duets in scenic locales in Italy and Dubai in the last week of November. Chakri tuned them and Shankar choreographs.
The urbane story with a humane touch has its lighter shades, provided by Brahmanandam, Ali and Raghubabu. Prakash Raj has company in Subbaraju, Benerjee and Shafi. Chandra Mohan and Jayasudha are cast as the hero's parents while Nasser plays the heroine's dad.
Anand Prasad had earlier made Souryam , an action packed entertainer with Gopichand. Ravi emphasised that his film is “not a police story.” He justified the title thus, “the heroine is wanted by the hero, the villain wants the hero and the villain in turn is wanted by the heroine.” The reason, he said, one has to find out on the big screen in December when the film hits theatres.
