Madhil Mel Poonai

What it is about…

The audio of Madhil Mel Poonai was released recently in the presence of director S.A. Chandrasekaran, producer P.L. Thennappan and actors Arun Vijay and Adhi. Produced by Kannan and directed by Barani Jayapal, the film has music by Ganesh Raghavendra. The cast includes Vijay Vasanth, Vibha, new face Karthik and Thambi Ramaiah. The story is about how some teenagers choose to lead life on their own terms and the hurdles they face because of it.

Music highlights

There are four songs in the album and ‘Vandharai Vazhavaikum,’ sung by Simbu and written by Ansar Abbaz, is the best. The song which has gone viral on YouTube has the potential to become a Chennai anthem. It has folk instruments tappu and thavil to add to the Chennai flavour. ‘Poo Pookkiradhu’, written by Yuga Bharathi and sung by Harish Raghavendra and Harini, is a lovely duet in hip hop style. ‘Manasa Thirudiya Pulla,’ sung by Tippu and penned by Karunakaran, is based on a Rajasthani folk tune where tabla, dolak and santoor have been used. ‘Irulai Katti Vai’ comes next — Lawrence and Abilash have sung the song written by Velmurugan.

What they say…

Producer Kannan: I am a textile businessman from Tiruppur. It has long been my dream to make a film. With the help of friends in the industry, I began listening to storylines. Director Barani Jayapal’s line impressed me and I went ahead with producing Madhil Mel Poonai .

Director Barani Jayapal: I have worked as an assistant to director Badri, when he made Murattukalai, Veerappu and some TV serials. Madhil Mel Poonai is a story inspired by life and targeted at parents, teachers and youngsters. Hero Vijay Vasanth: After acting in Chennai-28, Nadodigal, Saroja, Mangatha, Kanimozhi and Nanban , I landed this role. When the director narrated the storyline I was taken aback, as the hero was expected to do action sequences. I declined as I am a fun-loving person. But the director talked me into accepting the role. The film will be a different experience for the viewers.

Music director Ganesh Raghavendra: I got my first break in films with Renigunta . After films such as Padam Parthu Kathaisol and Acharyangal, I got the chance to compose the music for Madhil Mel Poonai . The film has an interesting storyline which will keep the viewers hooked.
