It was all glitz and glam at the CineMaa awards held at HICC last week. A grand affair, the event saw a panorama of stars, musicians and technical artistes all under one roof.

The performances by a team from Rangam dance show set the ball rolling for the power packed stage performances to come. The exquisite sets, light and the boom-bastic sound got the crowd to cheer all the way through. Tamannah sizzled on stage and got dancing to songs like ‘Vaana Vaana’ from Racha and ‘a square b square’ a square, b square — immediately catching the attention of the thousands who attended the event. While Poonam Kaur got us foot-tapping to ‘Kevvu Keka’.

A host of new awards were presented like Special appreciation award (given to M.S. Narayana) and a promising face award (Isha Chawla for Prema Kavali ) and confident face award was presented to Anjali Lavania. It was interesting to note that Anne from Rajanna was acknowledged with a special appreciation award. The day proved lucky for actor Adi who won the best debut (male) award for his role in Prema Kavali . As father, Sai Kumar expressed gratitude and happiness on his son winning the award on Father’s Day. No surprises here, Adi dedicated the award to his ‘naana’.

Popular TV figure, Suma and comedian Ali held the show together with their comic timing and wit. Their small skit, a spoof on Gabbar Singh evoked many laughs. TV personality and game-show king, Prabhakar also entertained the audience. Devi Sri shot a surprise performance and got the crowd to move along with him.

Ace director, K. Raghavendra Rao was presented with the lifetime achievement award, it was indeed a sight to see, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and D. Rama Naidu coming together to present the award.

As far as the popular awards go, there are no prizes for guessing that the best actor award was taken away by Mahesh and Tamannah. Sreenu Vaitla bagged the best director award for Dhookudu .

Prakash Raj has a big fanbase across Asia, even at the CineMaa awards, he took the audience by storm. He was awarded the best supporting actor (male) for Dhookudu . The special jury award was given to Bapu for Sriramarajyam , Nayanatara won the best actor (female) jury award for Sriramarajyam and Nagarjuna won the best actor (male) award for Rajanna . Director Nandini Reddy won the best debut director for her film, Ala Modalaindi .
