Amy Jackson, who stunned everybody with her performance in her debut Tamil film “Madrasapattinam,” has added not one but two feathers to her cap. Not only has the actor, who is now playing a role in director Vijay's next film Thandavam , been approached by the makers of Barbie dolls to launch a series inspired by her, she has also been chosen as one of the judges for the Miss Teen Pageant to be held in Texas in June.
The honour is special for Amy, who first shot into the limelight by winning the Miss Teen title.
“Miss Teen World is how I began my career. I won the title in 2008 and was crowned Miss Teen World 2009. It was only after that director Vijay, who was making Madrasapattinam then, spotted me. I owe a lot to the company — winning that title opened many doors for me. So, when I was invited to be a judge for the contest, I readily agreed. I will be in Texas in June for the contest when the Barbie dolls will be launched.”
About “Thandavam” in which she plays a half-Indian girl, Amy says, “It's a glamorous role which will suit me.”
New kid on the block
Ram, who has created a niche for himself in Telugu cinema with films such as “Maska” and “Kandireega,” is all set to expand his market down South. The actor is making his debut in Tamil through a film titled “Yen Endral Kadhal Enben,” directed by Karunakaran. A bilingual, the film will be called “Endukante Premanta” in Telugu and will feature Tamannaah as the female lead in both versions.
About the film, Ram said, “We have completed 60 per cent of ‘Yen Endral Kadhal Enben,' which is a romantic comedy. After waiting for almost eight years for the right script, I'm making my debut in Tamil. ‘Yen Endral Kadhal Enben' is not a dubbed version of ‘Endukante Premanta.' We have shot every scene twice, once for the Tamil version and again for the Telugu version.”
Another interesting aspect is while director Karunakaran, who is from Tamil Nadu, can speak Telugu fluently, Ram, born in Hyderabad but brought up in Chennai, can speak Tamil fluently.
Discloses Ram, “I might have been born in Andhra but I was brought up here. I studied in Chettinad Vidyashram. ‘Yen Endral Kadhal Enben' has several humorous sequences. Punch lines in one language may not be as impressive when delivered in another language. In such cases, we have even changed the scenes to ensure that the impact of the idea isn't lost.”
