Festive releases are always looked forward to by film buffs. This Pongal week will see the launch of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam, Vishal’s Samar, Karthi's Alex Pandian and Santhanam’s maiden production Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya. While there is still time before the festival, chances are other films too could join the fray.
Cast: Kamal Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Jaideep Ahlawat, Samrat Chakrabarti, Zarina Wahab and Shekhar Kapur (in a special appearance).
Director: Kamal Haasan
Music Directors: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Director’s Cut: Vishwaroopam is an action-packed spy thriller releasing in Tamil and Hindi. All the artistes have dubbed in their own voices. This is the first film to be released on Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform. So television viewers will have the opportunity to watch the film a few hours before its theatrical release.
Cast: Vishal, Trisha
Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Director’s Cut: With an unknown villain creating a lot of problems for the hero, the protagonist sets out in search of him. Beginning in Ooty, the narrative travels to Bangkok in this out-and-out action thriller. I was fortunate to get the dates of two important actors who have carved a niche for themselves in the film industry — Manoj Bajpai and J.D. Chakravarthy. For the first time, Trisha is paired with Vishal. After watching Samar, one will realise that she is the backbone of the film. An enjoyable film with all the ingredients in the right proportion.
Cast: Karthi, Anushka and Santhanam
Music Director: Devi Sri Prasad
Director’s Cut: My main aim is to give a mammoth hit through the company which has come up with some of the best films in recent times. It’s an action entertainer with a liberal dose of comedy. It will prove to be a grand success for actor Karthi. I am glad to have got the best cast and crew to work on Alex Pandian. I hope people enjoy this festive treat.
Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya
Cast: Santhanam, ‘Powerstar’ Srinivasan, Sethu, Visaka, Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini, V.T.V. Ganesh and ‘Pattimandram’ Raja
Director: K.S. Manikandan
Music Director: Thaman S
Director’s Cut: I have been writing comedy scripts for Santhanam for over three years. When he decided to make a film, we began to discuss various lines and finally zeroed in on a comedy. We were keen that it should be a laugh riot, something unforgettable even after years. We have worked on the comedy so must that it will make the audience laugh their hearts out. As for the story, three men belonging to different age groups fall for the same girl and are keen to marry her.
