Noted film personality Asha Parekh would be awarded the ‘Lachcho Mahraj puruskar’ for her contribution in the field of dance and acting.
Besides a cash reward of Rs 51,000, Ms. Parekh would be presented a memento at a function here on September 1, Kumkum Adarsh of the Shakuntala Niruj Nritya Kendra said on Saturday.
Several eminent personalities, including film star Rekha, Sitara Devi and Birju Mahraj have received the award in the past.
“Ms. Parekh has been chosen as she is not just an eminent film person but is also a noted dancer and had been a disciple of late Lachcho Mahraj,” Ms. Adarsh said.
