It was a bevy of Tamil filmdom stars at the audio release of Giriguja Film International’s “Kola Kolaya Mundhirika” (KKM) produced by Trisakti Sundar Raman and Nalini Sundar Raman. A comedy written by Crazy Mohan, it is directed by Madhumita, of “Vallamai Tharayo” fame. The film has Karthik Kumar and new-find Shikha in the lead, accompanied by Jayaram, M.S. Bashkar, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Vasu Vikram. Anand Raj will play the comic villain. V. Selvaganesh, son of ghatam maestro Vikku Vinayakram has scored the music.

The audio was released by director K. Balachander and received by actor Sachu.

The album has seven distinct numbers. Selvaganesh, of “Venila Kabaddi Kuzhu” fame, has handled contemporary tunes with ease, as is evident in the theme music. Sung by Maya, Benny Dayal, Sricharan, and written by Sricharan, Raam Chander and Maya, the song has an impressive line-up of instrumentalists — Vikku Vinayakram (ghatam); Matias ‘IA’ Eklundh (electric guitar), Jonas Hellborg (bass guitar) and Ranjit Barot (drums). ‘Aasa Machaane’, written by N. Ramakrishnan is sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Anuradha Sriram. The song appears again at the end of the album as a remix, set to pacy rhythm, and Jaya Rajagopal joins the two singers. However, the first one sounds a lot better than the remix. ‘Oru Varam’ written by Francis Kiruba has a strong Carnatic flavour, and is sung well by S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and K.S. Chitra. ‘Notta Kudu Thottu Kudu’ by Aandaal Priyadarshini and sung by Karthik, Suchitra Karthik and Ujjayinee with rap by MWA-Big Nikk and Brodha V. is a good piece. Tradition meets modern in ‘Ada Engengum Aasai’, written by Na. Muthukumar and impressively rendered by Kalpana, Maya and Benny Dayal. The same lyricist has penned ‘Pooti Vaitha Vairam’, a pleasant number sung by Maya with rap by Sricharan and konnakkol by V. Selvaganesh and Umashankar.
