Devotees in large numbers thronged the Manginapudi beach near Machilipatnam in Krishna District on Sunday and Monday to bid adieu to Lord Ganesha amid colourful celebrations. Giving a go-by to the environmentalists’ call to prefer clay idols as a gesture to keep beaches eco-friendly, the devout largely preferred idols made of Plaster of Paris. Among hundreds of idols immersed on both the days, one could not find even a single clay idol.
