Govt. HS (Vidyanagar) emerges champion

BANGALORE: Government School, Vidyanagar emerged as champion in the Columbia Asia inter-school football tournament with a 5-4 victory over St. Aloysius HS in a ‘sudden death’ here on Sunday.

The teams were tied goalless at the end of full time and also drew at 4-4 in the tie- breaker.

Government School also went on to win the inter-zonal final beating St. Joseph’s School, Mysore 3-1.

Eliyah of St. Michael’s School was adjudged the ‘Best Player of the tournament’.

Brigade posts win

Brigade defeated ICICI Lombard by 12 runs in a Crick-Eight corporate cricket tournament match here on Sunday.

The scores:

Brigade 82 for three in eight overs (Vivek 26 n.o.) bt ICICI Lombard 70 for two in eight overs.

On Mobile 95 for three in eight overs (Girish 28 n.o.) bt Sobha 79 for three in eight overs (P.G. Srinivas 25 n.o., Sooraj 25 n.o.).

Yahoo 63 for three in eight overs (Sandeep Deshpande 27 n.o.) lost to ABB 64 for two in seven overs.

Tata AIG 71 for two in eight overs (Gautham 26 n.o.) lost to RMZ Corp 73 for three in 6.2 overs.

Maruti rally

Maruti Suzuki’s Dakshin Dare, a TSD rally covering 1,400km through the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, will be flagged off from Hotel Lalit Ashok here on Tuesday.

The first leg of the rally, up to Ooty, will be run on Wednesday morning.

Over 100 Maruti cars are expected to participate in the event, according to the organisers.

Sub-junior netball

Postponed

The Bangalore University inter-collegiate badminton tournament, scheduled to begin from Tuesday at Sindhi College courts, has been postponed due to University examinations.

Fresh dates will be announced later, it added.
