Desist from privatising banks: conference

THANJAVUR: The 31st All India Conference of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank Employees Association held here on Saturday and Sunday has appealed to the Central government to strengthen public sector banks in the country and desist from privatising them.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the conference, which also expressed its concern over the steep price rise, new taxation policy, increasing corruption and banks amalgamation move.

The conference demanded payment of bonus to all bank employees, representation of employees in the board of directors.

V.S. Reddy, Administrative Officer of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Baskaran, general secretary of the State Bank Employee’ Union (Chennai circle), Subramaniam, General secretary of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank Officers’ Association, participated in the conference.
