Customs & Central Excise triumphs

TIRUCHI: Customs & Central Excise scripted a 3-0 win over host Southern Railway Institute to win the title in the Goa Raja memorial district-level football tournament here on Saturday.

Vinoth shines

Vinoth put Customs ahead in the fifth minute and Ranganathan increased the lead soon. Vinoth netted again in the second half to settle the issue beyond doubt.

Royal FC posts win

Royal FC edged out NPR FC 1-0 in the Dindigul District Football Association ‘A’ division league for the SPD Tools Trophy in Dindigul on Saturday. Daniel struck the winner.

In the DDFA nursery (under-13) league, Sun Sports Club eased past AK FC 4-1. Praveen Kumar opened the account for Sun in the fifth minute and Sathish Kumar made it 2-0 in the 17th.

Selvamanikandan reduced the margin early in the second session.

But Vicky and Vijay scored in quick succession and ensured Sun’s victory.

Meanwhile, Sikandar Basha’s brace helped Arasan FC blank Annai Sport FC 3-0. Saravanakumar was the other scorer.

Niranjan nets three

Niranjan netted thrice as Ismail MFC thumped Muthu MFC 6-0 in the Madurai District Football Association ‘C’ division league for the Hi-Tech Arai Trophy in Madurai on Saturday.

Raja Prashanth (2) and Sharath (1) completed the tally.

In another match, Golden Star defeated Acme Academy 2-0. Arunpandi and Vijayarajan netted for the winner.

Combined Districts beats City

Combined Districts defeated City by virtue of its first innings lead in the three-day City-Combined Districts (under-14) cricket match here on Saturday.

The scores: Combined Districts 246 & 126 for seven in 65 overs (N. Jagadeesan 45 (retd.), U. Vishal 38, S.R. Harikrish three for 21) drew with City 154 in 65 overs (M. Prasanna 37, R. Kamalakannan 37, B. Aditya three for 23). Combined Districts won on first innings lead.

TNBA coaching camp

Twenty-one men and 18 women players have been selected for the coaching camp to be organised by the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association as preparation for the National championship to be held at Ludhiana from December 27 to January 3.

The camp begins in Chennai on November 30.
