There will be no rise in milk price in Bangalore, says Ashok

Staff Correspondent

Plan to raise Rs. 10,000 cr. by regularising buildings

Amended Akrama-Sakrama scheme to be finalised in the next Cabinet meet

15 lakh buildings in the State have been constructed in violation of rules

R. Ashok

HUBLI: Transport Minister and Bangalore in-charge R. Ashok has said that there was no question of increasing the milk price for residents of Bangalore.

Addressing presspersons in Hubli on Friday on his way to Bagalkot district to take part in programmes meant for initiating relocation of flood-prone villages, Mr. Ashok said that in the wake of some reports, he had spoken to the Chief Minister on the issue and that there would not be any increase in the milk price in Bangalore.

Referring to reports about building owners being issued notices for demolition for violation of building bylaws, the Minister said that he had already directed the officials to stop issuing notices as the amended “Akrama-Sakrama” scheme was in the final stages of notification.

He said the amended guidelines of the regularisation of the buildings, layouts and land conversions would be placed before the next Cabinet meeting and finalised.

Mr. Ashok said there were nearly 15 lakh such properties in the State that have been built in violation of rules and the scheme would be implemented as a “one-time settlement”. The Government had plans generate Rs. 10,000 crore from across the State of which revenue from Bangalore was expected to be around Rs. 5,000 crore.

He clarified that buildings built encroaching over playgrounds, parks and land meant for schools would not be regularised under the scheme. Encroachments over parking lots would not be regularised, he said.
