RMAI Lifetime Achievement Award for R.V. Rajan

CHENNAI: It was a special day for R.V. Rajan, chairman, Anugrah Madison Advertising and founder-president of Rural Marketing Association of India (RMAI), who was awarded the RMAI Lifetime Achievement Award and also launched his autobiography here on Friday.

Speakers on the occasion admired the “guru of rural marketing” for his humility, simplicity, enthusiasm and the struggles he underwent to come up in the life. Felicitating Mr. Rajan, N. Murali, managing director, The Hindu, said what the author has achieved in his career must be read. “He converts problems into opportunities,” he said.

Courage my Companion talks about Mr. Rajan’s personal, professional and parallel life, and speakers said that it makes for a fascinating read, as it is based on the life of an ordinary person. It talks of the author’s journey from the ‘chawls’ of Bombay to the demanding world of advertisement and rural communication.

The book was released by Sam Balsara, chairman, Madison World.

He described Mr. Rajan as a person interested in the path he follows than the result. Pradeep Kashyap, president, RMAI, spoke on how the informal association of rural marketing agencies grew under Mr. Rajan’s direction.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Rajan said: “There is a lot to do to dispel myths on rural marketing.”

The book is priced at Rs.295. Well-wishers from Round Table India, Madras Advertisement Club and Rotarians were present.
