MYSORE: Mysore district health authorities have refuted reports that a man died of dengue in the city on Friday. Shankar (40) of Naalabeedi in K.R. Mohalla developed high fever after returning from Sabarimala on November 21 and took treatment in a private clinic. However, when the fever did not subside he was taken to JSS Hospital on November 24. Raju, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, said in a press release that Mr. Shankar got himself admitted in another private hospital the next day where he underwent blood tests which turned out to be negative for dengue. However, he died in the early hours of Friday, triggering speculation that he had died of dengue. Dr. Raju said that a team of doctors and paramedical staff from Mysore City Corporation visited Naalabeedi and conducted a surveillance. Dr. Raju said there was no case of dengue in the locality though there were five cases of general fever.
