Hyderabad
Lone PR winner from Old Bowenpally
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: Narsimha Yadav turned out to be the saving grace for the Praja Rajyam after he won the Old Bowenpally municipal division of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The lone winner is now being considered a hero in his party.
Having won with a 993-vote margin, Mr. Yadav’s victory has been among the most surprising wins. He joined PR after the Congress refused to give a ticket to him.
What exactly worked for him? His rapport with the local residents and his continuous effort in highlighting the failures of the government in implementing developmental programmes during the election campaign coupled with his opponents’ overconfidence.
“It’s the victory of people in my division,” said Mr. Yadav flashing the classic victory sign at his residence in Bowenpally. He got 7,900 votes, while TDP candidate secured 6,907 votes and Congress candidate got 6,019 votes. Of the 70,789 votes, 29,967 votes were polled in the division.
