Have a vision and set goals to achieve it, Kalam tells students

Inspiring young minds: Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inaugurating the BGS Utsav 09 at BGS Global Hospitals near Uttarahalli in Bangalore on Thursday.

Bangalore: The former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam called upon the children to set goals in their lives and work hard to build a strong and powerful nation. The students could improve their knowledge through imagination, good thoughts and self confidence, he said.

Mr. Kalam, on Thursday, inaugurated the “BGS Utsav 09” and the “Positron emission tomography/computerised tomography” (PET CT) centre of the BGS Global Hospitals on the premises of SJB Institute of Technology near Uttarahalli. The youth of the country have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that India emerges as a developed country.

‘Work hard’

The students should have a vision to work hard to realise their goals, he said.

“Knowledge is a great vision and the children should acquire it through excellence. The ignited mind of the youth is the most powerful tool for the development of the country,” he said.

His vision

Sharing his vision for “India in 2020”, Mr. Kalam said that people should work together to make the country prosperous, secure, healthy, peaceful and happy. To achieve this vision, focus should be given to agriculture, food, education, healthcare, information and communication technology.

Oath

Mr. Kalam administered the oath to the children for enlightened citizenship, honest living, to pursue education with dedication, to teach illiterates to read and write and to plant saplings.

‘Visit temple’

He also recited his poem and asked the students to visit Kalabyraveshwara temple in Adichunchanagiri.

Answering questions, Mr. Kalam told the students not to worry about the ‘2012 deluge’.

The Adichunchanagiri Math seer Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Transport Minister R. Ashok, former Minister Shobha Karandlaje, NICE Managing Director Ashok Kheni, actor Ambareesh, music director Hamsalekha and others were present.
