Special mementos for Tendulkar and Dravid

MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid will receive special mementos, while Gautam Gambhir will be rewarded for an outstanding year in international cricket at the annual BCCI awards ceremony here on December 6.

While Tendulkar will be honoured for completing 20 years in international cricket, Dravid would be felicitated for becoming the world record holder in catches in Tests, BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan announced here on Wednesday.

The award winners:

C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award: Mohinder Amarnath (Rs. 15 lakh); Polly Umrigar award (India’s most successful international cricketer of the year): Gautam Gambhir (Rs. five lakh).

Special awards: Rahul Dravid (for surpassing Mark Waugh’s record tally of 181 Test catches); Sachin Tendulkar (for completing two decades of international cricket).

Madhavrao Scindia award: Highest scorer in Ranji (2008-09): Wasim Jaffer (Mumbai); Highest wicket-taker in Ranji (2008-09): Dhawal Kulkarni (Mumbai) and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra), all Rs. one lakh each; Best overall performance (2008-09): Mumbai and Punjab.

M.A. Chidambaram Trophy: Best u-16 player (2008-09): Chirag Khurana (Maharashtra); Best u-19 player: Harpreet Singh (MPCA); Best u-22 player: Neelkanth Das (CAB); Best senior woman player: Reema Malhotra (DDCA); Best junior woman player: Poonam Raut (MCA), all Rs. 50,000.

Best umpire (2008-09): Ameish Saheba (Rs. 50,000).

Ranji Trophy Platinum Jubilee (1934-35 to 2008-09): Rajinder Goel (highest wicket-taker: 640 wickets); Amarjeet Kaypee (highest run aggregate: 7,623 runs); Mumbai (most successful team: 38 trophies in 75 years). — PTI
