KADAPA: The Congress party is yet to finalise its candidate for Pulivendula Assembly bye-election, though the nomination filing process commences on Wednesday. Kadapa Lok Sabha member Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is a keen aspirant for the party ticket and is awaiting a green signal from the Congress high command. Although Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and his family members called on the Congress president Sonia Gandhi recently, the candidature of Pulivendula bye-election was not finalised. However, there were indications that the Congress ticket would be given to YSR’s family members. Pulivendula Assembly constituency was being represented by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his family members since 1978. While Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is keen to enter the Assembly to fulfil his aspirations, the names of YSR’s wife Vijayalakshmi and his daughter Y.S. Sharmila are also proposed. However, both of them are reportedly not too enthusiastic about contesting the election. Moreover, YSR’s brother and Kadapa MLC Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and two of his cousins are also in the race. Nominations will be received from November 25 to December 2 by the DRDA project director designated as Returning Officer for Pulivendula bye-election from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
