CPI (M) demands release of Dalits

CHENNAI: CPI (M) State secretary N. Varadarajan has urged Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to take steps to stop the arrest of Dalits at Uthapuram in Madurai district.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Varadarajan also demanded immediate release of those arrested.

Following his letter, the Madurai Collector called Mr. Varadarajan to convey the message that peace had returned to the area. — Special Correspondent
