Man booked on fraud charge

THENI: The police registered a cheating case against Manoj Kumar (25) of Madurai, who reportedly collected cash from over 250 persons at Konangipatti and Surianpatti villages, eight months ago, near here on Tuesday. They seized 34 computers, furniture and cash Rs.4 lakh from his office.

A total 242 persons who deposited cash ranging from Rs.25,000 to Rs.4 lakh lodged complaint in this connection with the Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan.

The police said Manoj had collected money from depositors and offered computers to do business.

He had promised the investors of good returns for their money and also offered some amount every month on the basis of their deposits.

After some months, he did not come to the office.

He reportedly collected a deposit of Rs.4.5 crore from the public. He had also obtained anticipatory bail, the police added.
