NEW DELHI: A seven-year-old boy kidnapped for a ransom of Rs.2.5 lakh from Jhilmil Colony in Delhi’s trans-Yamuna area on November 15 has been rescued from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested two of the accused. Sita Ram, who works as a driver in Delhi, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that his son had gone missing. He then received ransom calls on his mobile phone in which the kidnappers demanded Rs.2.5 lakh for the boy’s release. The calls had originated from Kannauj, Auraiya and Kanpur. Through technical surveillance the police zeroed in on the suspects and arrested them in Kanpur over the weekend. They were identified as Sushil Yadav and Shivpal Yadav. The boy was found in Sushil’s house. A hunt has been launched now for their accomplice Ravinder, the police said on Monday. During interrogation, Shivpal purportedly told the police that he was in dire need of money. On November 15 he allegedly spotted the child in Jhilmil Colony and kidnapped him. He then handed the boy to his brother-in-law Ravinder in Auraiya. The boy was taken to Kanpur on November 19.
