The ‘universal school’ will focus on value-based education, Indian culture. KOZHIKODE: A “universal school” will be set up in Balussery here by the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust as part of its programmes to commemorate Pazhassi Raja, who died fighting the British. The school, which will focus on value-based education and Indian culture, will come up on a piece of land donated by social worker P. Ramachandran Nair. Death anniversaryThe 204th death anniversary of Pazhassi Raja will be observed on November 30 under the auspices of the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust. A series of programmes will be organised from November 25 to 30 in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The programmes are supported by the Wayanad District Library Council, Mananthavady block panchayat, Mananthavady grama panchayat and the Pazhassi Raja Educational Trust. Former Union Minister C.M. Ibrahim will inaugurate the Pazhassi memorial programmes, which will begin on Wednesday at the Tagore Centenary Hall. Sarath Kumar, who played the role of Edachana Kunkan in the recently-released film Pazhassi Raja, will be the chief guest. He will release the brochure of the Pazhassi Raja Universal School. Mayor M. Bhaskaran will preside. Archery contestThe Pazhassi remembrance programmes that will follow the inaugural session include an essay-writing competition for high school, higher secondary school and college students at Solidarity Library Hall in Mananthavady on Thursday, an archery competition on Saturday at Valliyoorkav grounds in Arattuthara, a district-level quiz on Sunday at Community hall in Mananthavady . Visiting his graveOn Monday, a trip to Pazhassi’s grave will be organised from Forest Office. Later, there will be a commemoration meeting at the Community Hall in Mananthavady .
