ELURU: Senior leader of Praja Rajyam and former MP Ch. Harirama Jogaiah lamented over the reported internal differences within the Congress over the Indira Sagar Project. Addressing a press conference here, he said a section of Congress leaders joined hands with the TRS in opposing the dam regardless of their government’s resolve to complete it at any cost. The change in the project design as suggested by some Congress leaders and the TRS, effecting a reduction in the dam height would negate the irrigation interests of the coastal region. Such moves would be met with an agitation from the coastal Andhra people, he warned. Mr. Jogaiah urged Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for assured water supply for the second crop to the full ayacut in the Godavari delta after the completion of the Indira Sagar project. He wanted an amendment in the Localisation Gazette Order accordingly.
