A reception committee under the chairmanship of former Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad, comprising the people’s representatives of the two districts along with officials of Irrigation Department, has been formed to make arrangements for the felicitation.

Mr. Buddha Prasad told a press conference on Sunday that the felicitation would be organised on the premises of Montessori Mahila Kalasala. Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmiah, Chairman of the Legislative Council A. Chakrapani, Minister K. Parthasarathy and Andhra Pradesh Hindi Akademi Chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad would be present along with many elected representatives and people from different walks of life.

Mr. Cotton and his wife would be reaching Hyderabad on August 26.

The same day they would meet Governor N.D. Tiwari and Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.

On August 27, they would visit Gandikota reservoir, and also pay tributes at Idupulapaya to late Chief Minister Y.S. They would later visit Pulichintala project.

The couple would visit Prakasam Barrage and other places in the city on August 28, before the felicitation.

Mr. Buddha Prasad said that Sir Cotton had brought large tracts of lands in Godavari and Krishna districts under irrigation by constructing various irrigation structures.

The late Chief Minister had thought that the people of AP could thank him by felicitating his descendants, and, hence, planned the function.
