TIRUPATI: The very fact that two key constitutional posts in the Indian public life and polity - President of India (Pratibha Patil) and Speaker of Lok Sabha (Meira Kumar) - are being held by women bear ample testimony to the phenomenon to show how women have come to take the centre-stage in the contemporary Indian society. This only shows the inherent abilities and the leadership qualities of women, said Prof. G. Sarojamma, Vice-Chancellor Sri Padmavathi Women’s University, Tirupati. She was addressing a three-day regional workshop on Sunday on the theme, ‘Grassroot leadership of women in local self government bodies in AP,’ organised by NGO - AGRASRI.
