She now hopes to get selected for the international competition Manipal: Archana, a student of Manasa School in Pambur near Udupi, won gold, silver and bronze medals at the national swimming championships for the mentally challenged at the Special Olympics, Bharat, held in Mumbai between November 11 and 17. A press release issued here stated that Archana, a resident of Asare, home for the mentally challenged persons, in Manipal, represented the State in 50 metres freestyle and won the gold in that competition. She got a silver medal in the 25 metres butterfly stroke and a bronze medal in the 4x25 relay. With this performance, Archana, who is the daughter of Estate Officer at Manipal University Jai Vittal, hopes to get selected for the international competition. List announcementThe National federation, recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will shortly announce the names of all those selected to represent the country, the release said.
