KOCHI: Customers should take adequate precautions to guard against harmful practices in equity market transactions, said Chitra Ramakrishna, Joint Managing Director of the National Stock Exchange, at an investor meet organised by Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services Limited here on Friday. While the regulators had framed rules intended at protecting the interests of the investor, lack of caution on the part of the latter would defeat the very purpose, she said. Clients have to keep track of the statement of accounts and ensure that the power of attorney is not misused. Giving a free hand to the brokers might create unnecessary trouble for the investor. Manishi Raychaudhuri, India head of equity research, BNP Paribas Securities Limited, analysed the present trends in the economy. C.J. George, managing director, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services Limited, welcomed the gathering.
