‘Congress misused government infrastructure’ Our polling percentage will increase: Kishan HYDERABAD: The city unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday accused Congress and Telugu Desam of indulging in unhindered distribution of liquor and money to garner votes in the upcoming GHMC elections. The party leaders alleged that Congress ‘brazenly’ misused the government infrastructure for the road show of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the party’s Amberpet MLA G. Kishan Reddy demanded immediate action by State Election Commission to stop the flow of liquor and money. Vigils“Our local leaders and party workers will take up night vigils in the next 48 hours to catch those who distribute liquor and money in slum settlements. If police fails to catch culprits, we will do it for them,” Mr. Reddy warned. The party’s city unit president Chintala Ramachandra Reddy accused police of being mute spectators while the Congress party misused infrastructure openly. “Congress leaders fully exploited the official machinery. Even the SEC has maintained silence. During April’s general elections, police had seized large amounts of money through inspections. This time, they have not caught even a single person while distributing money,” he said. The party leaders evinced confidence of putting up a good show in the upcoming elections. “Lok Satta and Praja Rajyam failed to attract and stimulate the anti-Congress vote. Those votes will come to BJP and our polling percentage and seats will increase,” Mr. Kishan Reddy added. Commenting on Jaganmohan Reddy’s campaign in city, former legislator K. Laxman said that Mr. Reddy was making a futile attempt to garner sympathy vote by evoking the name of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. “Sympathies won’t work because the Congress has failed to deliver on its promises,” he said.
