Spirited show: Winner Sajeetha Bharath, first runner-up Niketa. J. Shah, second runner-up Alpa N. Shah, with judges at the Mrs. Home Maker Show in Chennai on Saturday. CHENNAI: What do homemakers do? Besides a lot of management, budgeting, financing, coordinating and sometimes, putting up with temper tantrums, some of them also like walking the ramp, tapping their feet to a peppy number or singing a song. The ‘Mrs. Homemaker’ contest organised by Twilite Corpos here on Saturday saw a lot of enthusiasm and spirit from homemakers, who showcased their talents to win the title they have been aspiring for. The show began with a group dance featuring all the contestants, followed by an introduction round. This was followed by an ‘individual talent’ round, where all the contestants did what they were best at, with most opting to dance. One contestant chose to paint as she was dancing, adding more flavour to the round. Two of them sang popular songs. Of the 13 participants, nine were short-listed for the semi-finals, in which they had to answer questions posed to them. However, most participants seemed to believe being diplomatic was key to being a good homemaker and chose to “play it safe”. Five contestants made it to the final round. The jury, including television personality Uma Padmanabhan, former title winner Sujatha, television personality ‘Vambu’ Lakshmi and writer Lena Thamizhvanan, which claimed to be bored of posing questions, set a different challenge for the contestants. In a role reversal of sorts, contestants were asked to think of a final round question for such a show, if they were one of the judges. Finally, Sajeetha Bharath emerged winner of the title, while Niketa J. Shah and Alpa N.Shah were adjudged first and second runners up respectively.
