Need for research on Tibet: Dalai Lama

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Saturday emphasised the need to bring out books and texts on Tibet since there was not much literature available on Tibetan culture.

He made the observation during a visit to Delhi University where he delivered the valedictory address at the end of a three-day international conference on exploring the history and culture of Tibet.

The Dalai Lama, who is an honorary professor at Delhi University, said there was a need for research on Tibetan history. He also urged the Tibetan youth to study the history of Tibet and also pursue modern education.

“While Tibetans spend a lot of time studying Buddhism and political history, it is necessary for them to get information about ancient Tibet.”
