Memorandum submitted

Karwar: Members of the Kali River Sand Transporters’ Association of Karwar submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday saying they would stop sand extraction if the district administration failed to give permission to transport sand to Goa.

The association has, in the memorandum, drawn the attention of the Deputy Commissioner that about 7,000 families were dependent on sand business in Karwar. The district administration’s order banning transportation of sand to Goa had adversely affected these families. — Correspondent
