Namdhari rides on Gurvinder strike

CHANDIGARH: Aided by Gurvinder Singh’s 51st minute goal, Namdhari XI defeated Punjab and Sind Bank 1-0 in the Jindal Steel Nehru hockey tournament at the Sector-42 Stadium here on Saturday.

Air India managed its second consecutive draw when it held Punjab National Bank (PNB) 1-1. Ravinder put PNB ahead in the 23rd minute.

However, seven minutes later Prabodh Tirkey converted a penalty corner to draw parity for Air India.

Easy for Bal Bharati

Bal Bharati Public School (Pitampura) outplayed Guru Nanak Public School (Punjabi Bagh) 7-0 in the senior boys section, in the inaugural match of the 27th S.S. Mota Singh memorial hockey tournament at the Mota Singh school ground (Janakpuri) on Saturday.

Arijit Kapoor (2), Divij Sahni, Aneesh Pathania, Yashav Gupta, Adit Pathania and Anant Singh scored the goals for Bal Bharati that led 3-0 at halftime.
