BU students call off stir
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The five-day-long protest by students of Bangalore University on Jnanabharathi campus here came to an end on Friday after Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhu Dev promised to replace Director of Students’ Welfare Narendra Kumar and Special Officer of SC&ST Cell Ravi Kumar.
Dr. Prabhu Dev told The Hindu that he had decided to send on leave the two officers, whose removal the students had sought.
Student leader Eroba Reddy said the students had boycotted classes and staged a protest seeking the removal of these two officers for their “anti-student” actions.
“We have decided to call off our agitation following the Vice Chancellor’s assurance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Prabhu Dev, who was away in New Delhi since Tuesday, resumed office on Friday and met the new Registrars.
