Two held in currency racket
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Two men allegedly involved in a fake currency racket have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. Over Rs.1 lakh in fake notes were purportedly seized from them.
The Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch received a tip-off that counterfeit currency being smuggled into the country from Nepal was being distributed in Delhi. The team zeroed in on Mansoor Alam, a resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, and found that he would come to the Walled City to deliver a consignment of fake notes to Abdul Haq, who has a shop in the area.
A trap was laid and the accused were arrested with the consignment . The notes were of Rs.500 denominations.
