‘Convene MUDA meeting within a month’

Staff Correspondent

Chairman of the authority has no concern for the public, says Marithibbe Gowda

MYSORE: Marithibbe Gowda, MLC and member of Mysore Urban Development Authority, on Friday cautioned the MUDA Chairman that he would approach the Lokayukta if a meeting of the authority was not convened within 30 days.

He told presspersons here that meeting of the authority had to be convened at least once a month. However, Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan, who also holds the post of ex-officio Chairman of MUDA, had not bothered to conduct the meeting in the last eight months. He had postponed the meeting three times without giving any valid reason, Mr. Gowda alleged.

“Reluctance” in convening meeting and postponing the meeting without any valid reason showed that the Chairman had no concern for the public, he said.

Delay

The Chairman had not reviewed the progress of development activities of MUDA. In the action plan chalked out for 2008-09, MUDA was expected to take up 100 development works at a cost of Rs. 25 crore, but the delay in implementing them had resulted in huge loss to the authority, he said.

He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party Government of favouring land developers at the cost of site aspirants.
