‘Haryana cane growers not affected by Centre’s price’

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Friday that sugarcane growers in Haryana would not be affected by the Centre’s decision to set a nationwide base price for sugarcane as the State Government had already announced the highest-ever cane price for the sugarcane farmers.

Talking to media persons at his residence here, he said the farmers in the State were being paid the highest price of Rs.185 per quintal for the year 2009-10.

In addition, they would get a bonus of Rs.25 per quintal for supplying sugarcane to cooperative sugar mills.

For the next year, 2010-11, the State Government had already announced a price of Rs.210 per quintal, he added.
