KOCHI: Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy said here on Friday that all district, taluk-level and smaller ayurveda and homoeopathy hospitals where in-patient services are available would be upgraded with modern facilities within 10 months. Addressing a gathering of about 500 delegates from across the country after inaugurating Nethra-2009, a national seminar on ayurvedic ophthalmology, Ms. Sreemathy said the Department of AYUSH had provided Rs. 20 crore each to upgrade ayurveda and homoeopathy hospitals. The State Department of Health has already started the procedures to utilise the funds provided by the Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There would be at least six masseurs in district hospitals, three men and three women, doctors and pharmacists required for efficient functioning of the hospitals, the Minister said. However, these arrangements would be on a temporary basis, the Health Minister added.
