New Delhi
NEW DELHI: For the large number of Catholics living in the Capital, this coming Sunday will be special with the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese solemnising a Holy Mass at St. Columba’s grounds to mark the completion of its golden jubilee celebrations. Before the Holy Mass, Archbishop Vincent Concessao and Auxillary Bishop Franco Mulakkal will receive the statue of the Scared Heart of Jesus along with a candle blessed by the Pope (Swarna Jayanti Jyoti) which will arrive here after completing its journey through the churches of Delhi. New initiatives“The occasion is a special one for all Christians,” said Archbishop Concessao addressing a press conference here on Friday. He also announced that the church is planning to launch new initiatives and partnerships in the field of health care and education. “Catholic hospitals are known for quality service at affordable rates and the community would be delighted to partner with the Delhi Government in extending the same level of commitment to medical care to those who cannot afford private institutions. Catholic hospitals including Holy Family, Jeevodaya and Bethseda have demonstrated that they do not need persuasion to serve the poor and we are ready to do the same for the poor of all the communities,” said the Archbishop. He said they were keen to partner with the Delhi Government for working in the field of the education. “We want to be part of the Government’s inclusive growth agenda. We are also part of the outreach programme which has provided training to 2,366 people in tailoring and embroidery. We have also engaged 5,340 women in empowerment programmes. Medical camps, eye clinics and health talks covered 19,893 people, all among the marginalised sections of society.”
